Disclaimer: I might post mild spoilers but if that’s okay with you then please proceed.
I seriously do not know where to start with this review. I have been waiting for this book since forever!!!!! Colleen has been teasing us with excerpts on her social media accounts many many times and I’ve been calm and patient enough to look away and not spoil myself. LOL As you may know, I’ve been a fan of Colleen since the day I’ve read her first book and you can even tell how much I loved her works through my previous review of Maybe Someday. And if I’m going to be honest, out of all her books, Maybe Someday and All Your Perfects are the ones that really touched me.
Synopsis from Goodreads:
Quinn and Graham’s perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair.
All Your Perfects is a profound novel about a damaged couple whose potential future hinges on promises made in the past. This is a heartbreaking page-turner that asks: Can a resounding love with a perfect beginning survive a lifetime between two imperfect people?
All Your Perfects was officially released last Tuesday (July 17th) and I immediately bought it three days after. Even when there was a typhoon in our area, I still went and purchased the book because I really do want to dive right into it. When I first read it, I still remember the mushy feeling I had in Chapter 1 but then when I read Chapter 2, I just had to stop. This book was a huge surprise for me. There wasn’t a warning label for all the feels it would give!!!! It should have said DISCLAIMER: I’M GOING TO RIP YOU WIDE OPEN AND TEAR YOUR HEART APART AND THEN I’M GOING TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER AND BREAK IT AGAIN but it didn’t, so I had to take a break. Lol. I continued reading it after two days because then I felt like my heart could carry the weight of what’s happening in the story.
“Until then, I will continue to love you more and more with every struggle we face than I loved you when all was perfect.”
I WAS AN EMOTIONAL WRECK, I’m telling you. If you’re planning to read this one, I suggest you prepare a box of tissues. All Your Perfects actually has a few pretty sensitive topics in it. This is the reason why I was crying most of the time when I read it. It was just so so so real.
This is the main reason why I love Colleen Hoover. She’s just amazing. Every single book she makes, it’s a completely whole new story and you never know what you’re gonna get. She’s my go-to author. Undeniably, she’s one of the best contemporary romance authors I know.
You know, I used to read and finish a book in a day when I was in college specifically in the year 2014 & 2015. It was in those years I discovered so many beautiful romance novels. As time went by, I kind of stopped reading? Probably because of my schedule. But I think it was more of the reason that is I cannot find books that satisfy me anymore. When I read All Your Perfects, my longing for reading and for finding more beautiful novels came back.
“And I promise . . . I swear . . . that if you choose to end things between us, I will love you more as you’re walking out the door than on the day you walked down the aisle. I hope you choose the road that will make you the happiest. Even if it’s not a choice I’ll love, I will still always love you. Whether I’m a part of your life or not. You deserve happiness more than anyone I know. I love you.”
In the story, you will surely love Graham or you might probably hate him or do both at the same time. Idk about you but what I love about him is that he’s husband material. He’s the kind of man you would love to marry. I know because I would marry him straight away! lol. He is patient and loving and what I like most is that he’s not perfect. Colleen Hoover did not make this man perfect but you’ll love him anyway.
“If you only shine light on your flaws, all your perfects will dim.”
Quinn and Graham’s marriage is ugly. I pray that I won’t have to experience what they have gone through. When I was reading their story, I couldn’t help but sob to myself because it was just too much. It actually felt raw and real because many people are experiencing this situation. I even told the story to my boyfriend and ranted to him and told him I never want to be in their position. I cried so much while reading it because I can’t imagine what I would do if I was in their situation. [SPOILER!!!!!!] The story deals mainly with infertility, grief and broken marriage. It might trigger some of you, especially if you’re experiencing these.
“I love you more this year than any year that came before it.”
MY RATING: ♡♡♡♡♡
WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT? No doubt! Read it as soon as possible and let’s talk!
