Hello everyone! I hope you are all safe and healthy. Everything’s pretty crazy right now. I still can’t believe this is happening. I’m just really hoping that everything will be okay soon! My heart goes out to those who are infected by the virus. I know this is a very hard time for everyone, but let’s continue to pray and ask for healing. Also, I’m very grateful to our front-liners who continuously help us fight this battle. I am in awe of their selflessness and bravery.
Well, it’s kind of bad timing but I had to resign from my previous job as a teacher. If you know me personally, you know that I’ve been teaching for almost 4 years already and I finally decided to let go of that career. I’ve thought about it a lot and I have come to this decision. Maybe in a few years’ time, I’ll take this path again, but for now, I’d like to discover new career paths to take. I have choices in mind, but it’s really hard to apply for a job right now especially with what’s happening with the coronavirus. So many plans have been put on hold. Still, I’m glad because I have another source of income. Last January, I started doing freelance writing and virtual assistance. I didn’t know that you can actually earn with creating content for others. One day, I was just looking for online jobs and I came across this whole new world that I am now a part of. It’s really amazing because I learned it all by myself and it’s really easy! I have been building my portfolio and my digital studio and hopefully this month, I’ll be able to launch it and get more clients. Let me know if you want to learn how to be a virtual assistant, I’ll be happy to help!
On other news, as you can see, I moved AGAIN to WordPress. Ha! I never knew I’d be moving out of Blogspot that fast. Blogspot was good, but there were some features missing that I can only find in WordPress this is why I went self-hosting again. I was thinking of releasing monthly newsletters and initially, I started a google form for subscription but you can now use this one below to sign up!
HUGE FAVOR: Can you please tell me what topics do you want me to cover for the newsletter? Or just any suggestions you’d like to say!
So anyway, what have I been doing during this quarantine period? I can’t possibly say I’m productive since to be honest, it’s been getting harder to work at home than when I’m outside the house. So many temptations! Aside from working part-time, I’ve been reading books and watching Netflix. I may recommend some movies, series or kdramas to watch on my next blog post because apparently I’ve watched too many! I also tried doing a 30 days work out challenge but I keep skipping days. Lol. I’ll start taking it seriously next week, I promise!
Ahhhh, this quarantine situation and the coronavirus sucks. It’s really saddening, to be honest. Even if it’s hard, lets just see the silver lining in everything. And I just hope we all stay safe and healthy. Wash your hands always!
How have you been lately?

Hello there! Being a teacher is indeed a noble job, but finding another career path is nothing wrong. What’s important is what makes you happy and finding the purpose in your life. I’ve tried a lot of careers in my life and I landed freelance writing/Virtual assistant too! Been doing this for 3yrs now! 🙂 Longest job I’ve been compared to my previous jobs. More blessings to come! We hope this crisis shall pass soon!

I have nothing against being a teacher, I guess I was just so burnt out that I decided to pause for maybe just a few years. I’ll surely miss my students, though! Yes, you too! Stay safe! x

I honestly have always wanted to try freelance writing, but I don’t know where to start! 🙁 it is still something I want to dabble in definitely, and I’ve been thinking about it more and more as I’ve eased in into the work from home arrangement with my full time job (I work in Recruiting). I admire you for taking the leap and exploring career paths!! I wish you the best of luck, and stay healthy and safe always. 🙂

You should definitely try freelance writing! It pays well, and most of the time, working hours are flexible. Thank you, Anna Jo! I’ve been really thinking about it and I’m glad I finally did. Stay safe, too! x

Hi Bee! I think it’s a brilliant decision for you to take a break from teaching and/or carved out an entirely new path outside it. I applaud you for doing so and for letting things unfold. It takes courage to step into the unknown, so, you go girl! 🙂 Looking forward for your Netflix recommendation. Wish you well with your future endeavors! God bless!

Yes, I was scared of getting out of my comfort zone. Teaching is something that I’ve been doing since I graduated college and I was terrified to actually change my career because it’s like doing or learning something over again. I’m really glad I did it, though.
Yes, thank you and God bless you, too!

Will do! I’ll start making it and add on my list of to-publish. Thank you for dropping by, Angeline! x

Ah yes indeed this is a difficult time to change careers or be laid off. I know multiple people myself included that were laid off before the virus and it had nothing to do with it. How did you find out about digital assisting and where did you look?

I know right? It sucks but there really isn’t something we can do about it. It’s really just bad timing. I actually searched for online jobs to do during my free time and I came across virtual assistance. There are lots of opportunities and I was really opened up to a bigger world of virtual assistance when I joined a facebook group. Try searching for “Virtual Assistant Savvies” on facebook if you want to try to learn how to do VA or find VA opportunities.

as for email sub topics…. life updates? like work.
I’m pretty interested in how ppl do virtual assistance work. I’m kind of scared to try it out.
Also for the quarantine… it’s just messy but im grateful for what i have and that I don’t have to worry as much as others.
I do feel bad for others who may have lost their job, don’t have money, don’t have food.. but what can I do?
The rich people should help out the poor, not me.. since im poor kind of lol.
So im just grateful for everything now, and trying to stay positive at this time.

Yeah, staying positive in these trying times is a thing we must do. There’s nothing good will come out if we keep thinking of what we’re lacking, or the things we lost during the pandemic.
Well, I was scared at first, too, when I started doing this virtual assistance job. But it’s really quite enjoyable!
Thank you for your suggestion, it is much appreciated. x

Well done to you for trying a different path in your professional life. I’m about to do the same thing and I’m so happy to hear about other experiences – it makes me feel more comfortable with the decision I made. I’m currently an editor at a publishing company, but I want to switch this job to become a graphic designer.
As for WordPress and Blogspot, WordPress comes on the first place for me, too. It has so many beautiful features!

Congratulations on leaving a job that you no longer loved! I’m sorry about the timing, but that is so existing that you took such a big step for your happiness. That’s good that you have a side hustle to support you through this time. I hope you are hanging in there through quarantine!

Hey, Bee! I just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone in feeling a bit anxious about this whole situation and that you are doing good by extending honest and inspiring content in the midst of all the darkness. So thank you <3
Also, I too, have been an educator for six years now and I also had my time of 'pause'. It's perfectly fine, and trying to find yourself through other passions is a brave and necessary thing for growth.
Take care and stay healthy! Virtual hugs to you!
Cheers,
Hanna

You are too kind, Hanna! Thank you for your words. You don’t know how it encouraged me. Stay safe! x

I’ve also been exploring the world of freelancing! But just more on to see what it has to offer, I don’t see it being my main source of income.. or maybe i just haven’t found the right one! Right now it’s been a great help, a major distraction from what’s currently happening around us. I have faith that we’ll be okay though. Hang in there. 🙂
Bee says
Virtual Assistance used to be just a side hustle for me, too! But I quit my full time job so right now, it’s all I have. I’m not complaining, though! It’s fun.
Agreed! As they say, this too shall pass.
